Your opinions, views and attendance are important to the future progress of the society.

Evening Flower Show.
Speaker: Les Waldren.
A return visit by Les, who will present a short illustrated talk on ‘Spring Flowers’.
To enter the Flower Show, members are asked to bring along a vase of own flowers (4-6 stems, any variety, own vase). Setting-up starts at 7.30pm.
Les will judge and discuss and there will be a prize for the winner!
This week is also the first ever RHS National Gardening Week where they ask members, clubs, garden centres and schools to join with them in encouraging the nation to get gardening. We are registering our interest and support.
Annual May Fair.
Location: Yateley Village Green.

The Society will once again have a stall on the Village Green selling plants and promoting Society membership. Help is always needed for this event so if you can spare an hour or two, please let us know. Also, if you can provide plants for us to sell at the Fair, that would be very much appreciated.
The Butchart Gardens of Vancouver.
Speaker: John Ford, member of Cox's Green Gardener's Club.
With an illustrated talk, John shows us the delights of these well known gardens. In part two of the evening, John will be taking a look at the colourful world of Penstemons.

Yateley GP to Tuscan Viticulture.

Did you know that 60% of the wine produced in Italy is Red? Dr Richard France takes us on a most interesting and enjoyable trip with this illustrated talk ‘Yateley GP to Tuscan viticulture’ - along with questions/discussion, there will also be a wine tasting!
A Visit to Lavender Fields, Hartley Park Farm, Alton.
A Monday afternoon visit to Lavender Fields, Hartley Park Farm, Selborne Road, Alton GU34 3HP (B3006).
Following a most interesting guided tour around the Lavender fields, enjoy a Traditional Cream Tea in the Farmhouse Garden and pay a visit to the Lavender Shop on the farm.
The venue is about a mile the Alton side of Selborne. Car share is suggested for this trip.
The number of visitors is limited to 25 with tickets issued on a first come first served basis.
The price per person is £9.25 payable to Julia Dobbin when booking your place.
‘Little Orchard’ Open Garden Visit

Late Summer Flowering of Perennials.
Speaker: Rosy Hardy from Hardy Plants.
Rosie, a gold medal winner and writer, returns to Hedgecroft for an interesting and lively look at late Summer flowering of perennials.
There will also be a plant sale.
YDGS Annual Autumn Flower and Produce Show.
Location: St Peter's Church, Yateley.
Our Autumn Flower and Produce Show is a traditional village show with a modern twist, held in the spacious church and hall of St Peter's Church.
In recent years, the church has held a Flower Festival alongside the Show resulting in a feast of produce and handicrafts for all to see.
Anyone can exhibit in the classes which range from vegetables and fruit, cut flowers and flower arranging, baking and preserving, to a whole range of handicrafts.
There are also special competition classes by age for children. You can see what we got up to in the last four years on our News and Articles page. Why not have a go this year? Entry is open to all!
Annual Inter-Society Quiz Night.
Location: Henry Street Garden Centre.
This popular event takes place at Henry Street, Arborfield 7.30pm. Refreshments are available, an opportunity to make purchases, a raffle and a fun, lively evening meeting up with other gardening society teams. Come along and support your YDGS team!
Clean Water for Masindi, Uganda.
Speakers: Ian Franks, Phil Morley and Rayner Mayer.
An illustrated talk is presented by Ian Franks, Phil Morley and Rayner Mayer, from Hampshire Scouts following a trip recently made by 24 scouts and leaders to Uganda, spending 3 weeks in and around Masindi
