Weirs Barn visit

Not even a cold damp midsummers day was going to mar the enthusiasm of YDGS members on their 1st outing since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic. What a treat they had in store when visiting Weirs Barn in Hartley Wintney, the home of Terence and Jane Lyons.

On arrival Terence gave us a brief but interesting history of the garden.

The garden has fabulous displays of topiary, endless varieties of plants, lawns with not a blade of grass out of place, a croquet lawn, a tennis court and a woodland area with beautiful lupins to bring it to life.

The garden was full of mystery as every turn or path presented another visual delight. We all also enjoyed a welcome Pimms , fruit juice and nibbles.

What a wonderful evening it was for everyone to be able to chat in such wonderful surroundings and forget all about Coronavirus for a while!

YDGS would like to thank Terence for allowing us to visit his garden, and help him raise money for St Michaels Hospice.
